Happily setting up my PS4 Pro for the first time with my 55″ Sony Bravia 4K HDR TV I ran into a few unexpected problems to I thought I’d share the solutions.
I plugged my normal phone headphones into the Dualshock and heard nothing. I read some old fluff online about how Sony was trying to block the use of in-line mic headphones but it made no sense.
I also tried my Plantronics RIG headset both directly into the Dualshock and also via the standard USB and still nothing.
It had been years since I initially configured my original PS4 and it’s easy to forget some of the basics. By default your PS4 and your PS4pro will only push chat audio through your headphones, however they’re connected. But if you want to use headphones for game sound, or Spotify or Netflix or you know those little menu whomps, you’ll need to head into:
Settings > Devices > Audio Devices > Output to Headphones > Chat Audio
Change to All Audio and you should be golden.
